Building Local
Working with local farmers to uplift local families.
Commitment to Community
At Four Roots, our commitment to supporting local communities goes beyond addressing food insecurity. We believe in making a meaningful impact by fostering relationships with producers and farmers, contributing to local economies, fostering local jobs, and creating opportunities for growth. This holistic approach ensures that our mission extends beyond the immediate need for emergency food assistance.
In collaboration with various hunger relief organizations, we have had the privilege of supporting communities in need. Rural Resources in Colville, FISH Food Bank in Ellensburg, and the Spokane Tribe of Indians in Wellpinit are just a few examples of who we’ve worked with in the past two years. Our partnerships extend to places like Othello, Washtucna, and Sprague, reflecting our commitment to reaching diverse populations, including minorities and people of color. In addition, Four Roots has been a continued resource for disaster relief-related food insecurities, including the Elk and Medical Lake fires that devastated our local community. We work with a team of social service experts who help identify these vulnerable areas of need and make sure they do not go unseen.
Beyond Food Security
While the primary mission of our We Feed Wa program centers around aiding vulnerable communities, an often-overlooked impact of this program is the substantial support provided to local farmers and producers. Collaborating with entities like We Do Moore LLC, Browning Beef, and Ramstead Ranch, we make a direct contribution to local economies. This partnership not only guarantees the freshness and quality of our produce boxes but also fosters job creation and sustains agricultural communities.
Supporting local farmers contributes to the growth of regional economies. From Vets on the Farm, a program dedicated to veterans' well-being and growth, to small family-owned farms like Olsen Farms and Heavenly Hill Farm, we actively engage in creating job opportunities and fostering economic stability. By utilizing local farmers and their practices, we ensure that our food is both nutritious and safe. With Washington offering an abundance of produce, there's simply no need to look outside the Pacific Northwest.
You Can Support Local Too
As you explore ways to make a positive impact, consider the profound influence of supporting local initiatives. Beyond the immediate benefits of emergency food assistance, your choice to buy locally has a lasting effect on the well-being of communities and the livelihoods of local farmers. If you're not facing food insecurity, consider our "Nice Box" retail program—a convenient way to support local farmers while enjoying a variety of fresh, sustainably sourced produce.
Four Roots is not just about providing food; it's about creating a sustainable and interconnected community. Join us in making a difference by supporting local initiatives, uplifting vulnerable communities, and contributing to the resilience of our local food systems. Together, we can build a future where everyone has access to fresh, high-quality food, and local economies thrive.
